HyeJeong Park is an illustrator based in New York who specializes in fashion drawings, line drawings, and surrealistic paintings. Her artwork is based on the irrational dream world. She places familiar objects in unexpected locations or takes familiar objects out of their usual contexts. In doing so, she transforms objects into completely new ones. Viewers are made to wonder and think. Sometimes, viewers impart a new meaning to the objects in her work. She obtains great satisfaction in this because that means that viewers are actively “participating” in her work. Her artwork has appeared in fashion magazines, including Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Cosmo Girl!, and Elle Girl, as well as in corporate publications for Hyundai, Korea Gas Corporation, and the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation. She has illustrated books, CD covers, calendars, and other print media. Her work has also been exhibited in galleries in South Korea, the United States, and Australia. Several of her works have been selected by The Society of Illustrators, The Art Directors Club, Spectrum, and American Illustration. She studied illustration at the School of Visual Arts, obtaining her BFA in 2006 and her MFA in illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2013.
