Patty Bowman is a detail-obsessed illustrator and children’s book author with a droll sense of humor. Originally from the Narragansett Bay area in Rhode Island, she draws inspiration from her youth in 1980s New England. She moved on to receive her BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, where she still resides. Working primarily in traditional pen-and-ink and watercolors, her illustrations have a morose, homemade feel. She is most notably influenced by the works of Edward Gorey, Tomi Ungerer, and Maurice Sendak.  She draws the heartache and hilarity of it all.
